The mission of CaliforniaIslands.org is to foster communication and data sharing between scientists, land managers and the public to promote a greater understanding of the ecological and human processes of the California Islands. Beginning in 2007 this site will be used to provide information on the upcoming 7th California Islands Symposium, scheduled for February 2008.
A secondary goal of this site is to foster discussion on the possibility of creating and eventually incorporating an organization focused on promoting communication of research and resource management activities on the California Islands. Such an organization would be positioned to formally organize future symposia, maintaining a much greater continuity than has historically been possible, but could also be active in other efforts promoting these goals.
